MAT 101:CONCEPTS OF MATHEMATICS

 Quizzes: There will be unannounced quizzes throughout the semester. The quizzes will be based on the homework assignments. If you are absent or arrive to class after a quiz has been given, you will receive a zero. The quiz grades will be averaged and count as one exam grade. 
 Exams: Four in-class exams will be given. No exam grade will be dropped nor will there be any make-up exams. A missed exam will receive a grade of zero unless documentation is provided indicating an excused absence.
 Exam Schedule:  The 4 in-class exams will be held on or about the following days.

Your final grade will be the average of your quiz average and the 4 in-class exams.If you wish to withdraw from the class and receive a grade of “W”, you must officially obtain a withdrawal form and have it signed by me no later than Monday, November 4th. After that date, you will receive a “W” only if you have a passing average. If your average is below 60, you will receive an “F”. Otherwise, the grades are as follows:
 
 Below 60  F
60 – 64  D
  65 – 69  D+
  70 – 74  C
  75 – 79  C+
  80 – 84  B
  85 – 89  B+
  90 – 100   A
Attendance Policy: Attendance is not mandatory. If you come to class you must stay for the entire period, unless permission is granted, before class, to be excused. If you leave before the end of class without permission, you will not be allowed to attend class. You will be permitted to take the four scheduled exams.
Cell Phones/Pagers: You are not permitted to make or receive any telephone calls during class. Therefore, all cell phones and pagers must be turned off. 
Math Center: Additional educational assistance is available in the Mathematics Center, Room B –130.  If you wish to make use of the Math Center, a student ID card must be obtained.
