Calculator:

A graphing calculator is required for this course. The Texas Instrument TI-83, TI-83+, TI-84, TI-85 or TI-86

are all acceptable.

Class Rules:

Attendance is taken at the beginning of each class. You are expected to attend class, however, attendance is not mandatory. If you come to class, you must stay for the entire period, unless permission is granted, before class, for you to be excused. If you leave without permission before the end of class, you will not be allowed to attend class for the rest of the semester. You will only be permitted to take the exams.

Any student may withdraw from this class during the first 10 weeks of the semester, with the last day being Monday, March 27th. If you wish to withdraw from the class and receive a grade of “W”, it is your responsibility to withdraw officially by filling out a properly completed Drop/Add form and having it signed by me. After that date, you will receive a “W” only if you have a passing average. If your average is below 60, you will receive an “F”. If you stop attending class and a Drop/Add form is not completed with my signature, you will receive an “F”.

All cell phones and/or beepers brought to class must be turned off.  You are not permitted to

make or receive any calls during class. If anyone’s cell phone or beeper goes off, there will be a pop quiz for the entire class. Any student caught text messaging in class will be asked to leave for that class period and is responsible for any work he/she has missed.

Quizzes: There will be unannounced quizzes throughout the semester. The quizzes are based on homework assignments. If you are absent or arrive to class after a quiz has been given, you will receive a zero.
Exams:
Three or four exams and a cumulative final will be given. No exam grade will be dropped nor will there be any make-up exams. A missed exam will receive a grade of zero. (Under special and direcircumstances, exceptions may be made, but only where official documentation is provided indicating the severity of the situation.)

Grades: Your final grade is based on the in-class exams and quizzes (70%) and the cumulative final (30%). Your overall grade percentage will be converted to an equivalent letter grade by the following table shown below
 90 - 100  A
 85 - 89  B+

 75 - 79  C+
