MATH 109: Algebra and Trigonometry

Text: Algebra and Trigonometry, by Blitzer, Second Edition
Calculator: TI - 83, TI - 83+, TI - 84 are preferred. The TI - 86 is acceptable.
Quizzes:
 There will be unannounced quizzes throughout the semester. The quizzes are based on the homework assignments. If you are absent or arrive to class after a quiz has been given, you will receive a zero.
Exams:

Approximately four exams and a cumulative final exam will be given. No exam grade will be dropped nor will there be any make-up exams.  A missed exam will receive a grade of zero. (Under special and dire circumstances, exceptions may be made, but only where official documentation is provided indicating the severity of the situation.)
Grades: Your final grade is based on the class exams and quizzes (70%) and the cumulative final (30%). If you wish to withdraw from the class and receive a grade of “W”, you must officially obtain a withdrawal form and have it signed by me no later than xxx, xxxx.  After that date, you will receive a “W” only if you have a passing average. If your average is below 60, you will receive an “F”. Otherwise, the grades are as follows:
90 - 100 A
85 - 89 B+
 80 - 84 C
 75 - 79 C+
 70 - 74 D
 65 - 69 D+
Below 60 F
