Technology. Course Description This course is an introduction to database processing for business and information systems. Emphasis is placed on the planning, administration, control and design of database systems. Students learn to develop applications using a popular DBMS software package such as Microsoft Access. Computer Center Requirement As part of this course, students should avail themselves of further study and/or educational assistance available in the Computer Centers located on the first and second floors of building B. The Computer Centers are located in rooms B115/116/119 and B 225/223/225C. Use of the resources in the Computer Centers is deemed an integral part of the course, and will help the student master necessary knowledge and skills. Admittance to the Computer Center will require a valid NCC identification card. Attendance Class attendance is MANDATORY. If for some reason you miss a class, it is the student’s responsibility to get in touch with the instructor. You are responsible for getting any notes and/or assignments of work that you may have missed. Makeups There will be NO makeups of quizzes or exams given. A grade of zero will be given for any quiz or exam missed. If an unforseen emergency arises, it is your responsibility for contacting me. If a project is due, and you are unable to bring it to class, then the project can be faxed or emailed to the instructor. DO NOT assume that the assignment has been received. You are responsible for contacting me to verify that the project/assignment has been received. Any project handed in after the due date is subject to a grade of zero. Withdrawal A grade of W will not be given out past the official withdrawal date of November 5, 1998. Cheating Cheating or plagiarizing of any type will not be tolerated. A grade of zero will be given for that exam, quiz or project.
